Located in the north-eastern side of the island, it might be one of the farthest places from Funchal, but trust us, it’s well worth the trip. With just over 50 minutes to cover the 49km between Madeira’s capital and Porto Moniz by car, it’s easily accessible by vehicle. When you arrive in Porto Moniz, park your car next to the pools. Remember, the parking spaces with blue lines are paid parking. But rest easy knowing there are nearby machines for you to pay with coins or card using the machines located in the parking lot.

Bus

The “Carreira n° 80” operated by Rodoeste, is a daily bus route that leaves from Funchal at 10:00 am. The trip usually takes around 3h and 15 minutes from Monday to Friday, but it is slightly shorter on the weekends. Don’t worry about breaking the bank either, as the cost of a ticket is only €6 (aka $7 USD).
