In the middle of the summer I visited Croatia. After only a week I spent there I realized that this country will forever have a special place in my heart. This real jewel of the Adriatic has absolutely everything a tourist can dream of : great food, incomparable national parks, candid easy going people, historical sights to all tastes : starting from Roman Empire times until modern day…and the sea…the sea that I could never describe, I loved it better than the Caribbean ( don’t get me wrong! Caribbean is great too!)
I wonder why this little paradise in the middle of Europe is not packed with tourists like Italy and Spain.I haven’t met a single American there, and mostly all the foreigners were from Czech Republic,Italy and some Russia.
I will try to make as many posts as I can about those few things I got to see and experience, and I already know that even though it’s not really like me to go back to the same place, I would visit Croatia again!
We stayed in a small coastal town Makarska, on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea in a region named Dalmatia.
The city is located right under the Biokovo mountain – the highest and the largest mountain in Dalmatia.
Makarska is a typical Mediterranean town, with narrow streets, orange tiled roofs, but it has everything you need for the perfect vacation : great ecology, mountains, sea and pines..lots and lots of pines!
